Purpose  目的

The University intends to utilise the Engine to train students on the behaviour of a jet engine during operations such as start-up procedures; determination of the specific thrust; determination of the specific fuel consumption; and determination of lambda or fuel-air ratio.

Main Specifications  主要技术参数

The University wants a single-shaft gas-turbine jet engine with radial compressor and axial turbine, or equivalent. The turbine should be mounted on moving base with force sensor for thrust measurement, whose maximum thrust should be 82N at 117000 rpm. It should also have electric starter for full automatic start-up. In addition, the engine should be supplied with additional remote control for display and control of the jet engine, besides software for data acquisition via USB in Windows 7 – 10.

The Subsonic Wind Tunnel shall be used to train students in the determination of drag and lift coefficients for different models; the understanding of pressure distribution on drag bodies immersed in a flow; appreciation of boundary layer analysis; the investigation of flutter; understanding wake measurement in conjunction with the fog generator and the visualisation of streamlines.

The Tunnel should enable students conduct experiments from the field of aerodynamics and fluid mechanics and should have wide range of accessories. The Tunnel should have the following attributes:

The Tunnel should further have measuring section for wind velocity, axial fan, appropriate measuring ranges, and compatible accessories such as complete drag body, pressure distribution, and relevant measuring instruments. Equivalent Tunnel could be supplied as long as it meets the particular purpose for which the University is buying the equipment for.

The Tunnel will be used by the Copperbelt University for investigating the following characteristics:

The Tunnel should be supplied as equipment with provision for visualisation of Mach lines and shock waves using Schlieren optics; continuously operating, open supersonic wind tunnel, low pressure principle; positive displacement fan with variable speed; interchangeable walls in the measuring section to produce velocities up to Mach1.8; and it should have drag bodies including but not limited to rocket, projectile, double wedge and wedge. It should also have manometer for displaying the pressure in the measurement point, together with associated software for data acquisition.
