加拿大ASL公研究生产的冰剖面仪，安装在海底或者水下移动平台上能测量冰层厚度，主要应用于：海上石油平台、沿海结构设计，桥梁和堤道，变暖研究，海洋学研究，航道研究等。

        ASL公司已经生产超过200台IPS冰剖面仪，广泛应用于南极和北极的冰川变化研究。其中一部分用于实时数据传输，如：the one by Ocean Networks Canada at Cambridge Bay （http://www.oceannetworks.ca/installations/observatories/arctic/cambridge-bay）.
